The Office of the Attorney General of the Nation reported that it issued a statement of charges against the presidents of the councils of Galán, Orfelina Motta Carreño, and from Curití, William Alfonso Rodríguez, for alleged irregularities in the contest for the election of municipal officials.
The Public Ministry investigates the occurrence of possible disciplinary offenses related to contracting with an entity that appears to be inappropriate to carry out the merit contest for the election of both representatives in Santander.
The two investigated, apparently, have entered into agreements with the Organization of Territorial Leaders for Development.

The foregoing, as indicated by the Attorney General’s Office, in order to carry out the accompaniment and technical and legal advice in the public and open competition of merits for the election of the Municipal Ombudsman 2020 – 2024, even though it would not have met the necessary requirements to carry out such tasks.
Thus the things, the Provincial Attorney of Vélez, in Santander, questioned the fact that “The organization does not have within its corporate purpose the realization, support or management of personnel selection processes and, therefore, it lacks the competence to join administrative, technical and operational efforts for the accompaniment and advice in the public tender for these appointments ”.
In this way, the control body stated that “With their actions, the requirements for an entity to serve ideally as support for this type of selection process were missed., which also affected the aptitude of the contest for the determination of the merit for not relying on a specialized entity; this conduct that has not been justified or at least this instance does not find justification at the moment ”.

The Public Ministry provisionally classified the alleged fault of the two officials as serious, as serious fault.
Once the investigation stage is over, the file will be sent to the Santander Regional Prosecutor’s Office before which the procedural subjects will be able to present disclaimers, as well as request or provide evidence.
