MIAMI, United States. – The collision between a passenger bus and a truck of the Community Services Company at dawn this Saturday, in Havana, left the balance of one deceased and two injured, according to reported Internet user Isabela Rodríguez in the Facebook group “Bus drivers forever”.

“The bus driver is only injured. From the truck, one deceased and one injured,” the source said.

“It is said that the driver from Comunales invaded the opposite lane by overtaking. He collided head-on. Once again the irresponsibility of a driver causes an unfortunate accident (…). This part of the road does not have potholes, it was all due to negligence due to running,” Rodríguez lamented.

“In addition to the pain of the family and the injuries, we have one less bus to serve the population and a new garbage collector that is also out of service,” he added.

Finally, he asked the drivers to drive with caution. “Remember that they are always waiting for you at home,” she finished.

The high rate of accidents on the Island is also affected by speeding, technical malfunctions and the ingestion of alcoholic beverages.

According to Ríos, “the human factor determines 89% of the events”, and the main causes are “not attending to the control of the vehicle, violating the right of way, speeding, technical malfunctions and ingestion of alcoholic beverages”.

In 2017 there were 11,187 traffic accidents in Cuba, in 2018 (10,070); 9,421 in 2019 and 7,722 in 2020.
