part of the candidates for regional governor of Arequipa, look askance at the last mock vote of Date. The survey released this week gives an advantage to Rochel Sanchez. The applicants pointed out that the sample lacks technical rigor or they would be biased.
Last Wednesday, a Datum voting drill, commissioned by the Arequipa Chamber of Commerce. These results gave Rohel Sánchez with 23.6%, while Javier Ismodes he had 14.3%. This last candidate distrusts the technical criteria, due to the universe (504 people) and the modality.
“What statistical validity can it have?”, questioned the candidate from Arequipa, Tradition and Future (ATyF). “Surveys are those that are carried out with statistical rigor, not polls,” he added.
For its part, Hector Herrera of Arequipa Avancemos, detracted from the fact that the drill is carried out by the Chamber of Commerce. “Gentlemen of the Chamber of Commerce, we know where they are pointing. Keep applauding those who think like you,” he said.
Fernando Zeballos from Together for Peru (JPP) joined the choir. “Private companies have an interest in guiding the vote. We must consider that Mr. Rohel Sánchez is a representative of these groups of economic power, ”he said. Sánchez is Zeballos’s brother-in-law.
The candidates participated yesterday in a debate organized by the teachers’ union of the sutep about their proposals in education. attended Jorge Suclla of United for the Great Change and Rosario Paredes of We are Peru. Rohel Sánchez was announced but did not attend.
They ask for neutrality
The candidates mentioned that Friday the 23rd will be the debate organized by the National Election Jury (JNE) and that the venue has not yet been defined. They pointed out that it could not be the National University of San Agustin (UNSA), because the entity would no longer be neutral, since Rohel Sánchez was its former rector, added to the support given by a group of deans.
Herrera and Zeballos maintained that they would have no problem debating at UNSA, but they stressed that neutrality no longer exists.
Proposals and taunts
In the debate, the candidates addressed proposals to the education sector. For example, Herrera proposed that the payment of the social debt could be made with land. For its part, Ísmodes proposed to provide satellite internet to all schools.
But there was also room for hints. “No social fighter dresses in yellow,” said Fernando Zeballos, alluding to the colors in support of Héctor Herrera. “Excuse me, but I think he is confusing me with his brother-in-law (Rohel Sánchez),” Herrera retorted.
