The year 2021 closed with a hotel occupancy of 37%, one of the lowest in the recent history of Panamanian tourism.

According to Armando Rodríguez, president of the Panamanian Association of Hotels (Apatel), this percentage is based on an availability of 23 thousand rooms. “It must be remembered that Panama has 32 thousand hotel rooms and of that total there are 9 thousand that are out of the inventory because there are not enough visitors.” he pointed
