Magnitude 4.9 earthquake shakes the Pacific coast of Nicaragua, without damage
An earthquake of magnitude 4.9 on the Richter scale shook the Pacific coast of Nicaragua this Saturday, with no casualties or material damage reported at the moment, reported the Nicaraguan Institute for Territorial Studies (Ineter).
The tremor occurred at 07:42 local time at a depth of 36 kilometers and its epicenter was located offshore, 30 kilometers southwest of the municipality of Nagarote, in the department of León, in the Pacific Ocean, Ineter detailed in a report.
Ineter seismologist Domingo Ñamendi explained that the earthquake was caused by the collision between the Cocos and Caribbean plates, and did not generate any tsunami alert on the Pacific coast.
The Nicaraguan authorities have not reported victims or material damage as a result of the tremor, which caused alarm among some residents of the Nicaraguan Pacific.

Mahsa Amini, a young Iranian woman detained for not wearing the veil “correctly”, has died
