The National University of San Luis will open quota for trans people

The UNSL will have a job quota for trans people, which includes a teaching and non-teaching quota.

The new rector of the National University of San Luis, Victor Moriñigo announced the implementation of the job quota for transvestites-trans people and people with disabilities; the creation of a diploma for social leaders and convened an academic dialogue table in the province upon taking office.

morinigo took office after being re-elected in May 2022 with 78% of the positive votes weighted, and in his first speech he promised to create a Diploma for Social Leaders in San Luis.

“With a plural vision where for each of the proposed axes we can have actors who can express different approaches, counterpoints and the people we train are the ones who can discern” said the rector.

And added that “It is the best contribution that the UNSL can make to 40 years of democracy”train San Luis social actors who “contain and generate so much for the good living of the province.”

He also announced that after talks with the Secretary General of the Argentine Federation of National University Workers (FATUN), Walter Merkis, the UNSL will have employment quota for trans people, which includes teaching and non-teaching quotas.

He indicated that with these groups “different discriminations that make marginality overlap, they are infantilized and also underestimated and today we also want them to inhabit our daily work life.”

Moriñigo announced that the University will convene all NGOs, Professional Councils and Colleges, social organizations and unions, and government institutions, to join the Puntano Dialogue Academic Table.

They will be in charge of studying the development of water, the economy, work and production, post-pandemic physical and mental health and education so that “no one is left behind”.

He highlighted the global mobility achieved by 100 students and professors in three years and clarified that at the institution “we are convinced that internationalizing the University is a must to maintain academic and scientific prestige and quality.”
