The US intends to silence the fight against drug trafficking in Venezuela

The United States (USA) seeks to silence the achievements of Venezuela in the fight against drug trafficking, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Carlos Faría, denounced this Saturday.

On Twitter, Faría condemned that “it is outrageous to see how from the country (USA) with the most consumption of drugs in the world, its rulers silence the achievements of the government of President (of the Republic) Nicolás Maduro in the fight against drug trafficking.

It meant that in 2021 alone, Venezuela achieved the seizure and confiscation of 51 tons of illicit substances.

Earlier, the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry released a statement in which it rejects the illegal and interfering memorandum of the US Government on the main countries that produce illicit drugs or transit important drugs by 2023.

The document highlights that since the expulsion of the Drug Control Administration (DEA)in 2005, the country has achieved a record of seizures.

The text also highlights that it is an infamous publication that “disregards the faithful fulfillment of the international commitments of the Bolivarian Government, whose tenor to address the permanent fight against illicit drug trafficking has been under the foundations of the United Nations and in total aversion to unilateral practices of politicized evaluation”.
