Regime imprisons wife, daughter and son-in-law of exiled opponent Javier Álvarez

The opposition Javier Alberto Álvarez Zamora denounces that the regime detained Félix Roiz, husband of Ana Carolina Álvarez, daughter of the exile who is also detained along with her mother Jeannine Horvilleur Cuadra, 63, after the Police tried to capture Álvarez , the night of September 13.

The Nicaraguan Human Rights Collective Never Again made public the opposition’s complaint and demands “the freedom of Jeannine Horvilleur, Ana Carolina Álvarez Horvilleur, Félix Roiz and all political prisoners.” Since Tuesday, both women have been detained in the Directorate of Judicial Assistance, known as El Chipote, in Managua, without knowing the reason for their arrest, according to Álvarez Zamora’s complaint to the organization.

Álvarez also denounced that police agents entered his home arbitrarily and without a court order in his search, when they did not find him, the agents proceeded to take his wife and daughter.

“This action evidences a new pattern of repression that extends arbitrary arrests to members of the family nucleus with the aim of forcing them to hand over information for the capture of the wanted person. Once again we condemn and demand the immediate end of the repression, the freedom of Jeannine Horvilleur Cuadra and Ana Carolina Álvarez”, expressed the Collective.

Gonzalo Carrión, a human rights defender, revealed that the arrest of the relatives of Javier Álvarez Zamora took place in an irregular manner, since the Police did not have a search or arrest warrant and that the time they were captured , “is not skilled at making raids.”
