Lieutenant Leydi Miranda, of the Police for Children and Adolescents of the National Police (PN), spoke this Friday on Radio Panama’s “It’s a Law Matter” program about the importance of safety in schools and provided preventive recommendations to the parents.
During the conversation, the officer indicated that “the Police, Children and Adolescents Service has made the decision to return to these educational centers and coordinate with the administrators of the different schools in our sectors of responsibility,” given the risk situations reported. in the last weeks.
“I have already made some appointments and scheduled some meetings, because they are also concerned and they already have meetings next week with parents; we are going to take advantage of that opportunity to bring them recommendations regarding care and supervision,” he added.
Miranda recalled that the safety of the children cannot be transferred 100% to any person or third parties. “Sometimes we give it to grandmothers, to a brother older than the one who is taking him to school and it is not that he is of legal age, but rather that the big one is 10 years old and the little one is 5 or 6, so the 10 take that 5- or 6-year-old to school.”
“We must be jealous, because in the end the only one responsible for the situations that occur is the father or mother, the only one responsible is us adults who are the ones who can foresee a risk situation,” he concluded.
