Located in North Lima, the district of Independence concentrates a commercial axis of imported and exported products of massive flow. Due to its heavy traffic of supplies, it is an area marked by the delinquency: In 2021 alone there were 5,036 property crimes, according to a recent report by the Legal Defense Institute (IDL).
Each Serenazgo officer must take care of the safety of 1,292 civilians, while each police officer, with four police stations available, protects the peace of 778 people.
Being the third district of Lima Norte with the most crimes reported in 2021, for the next elections the voters will have to discern between eight candidates for the commune. Two of them, according to information from the anti-corruption prosecutors and the Public Ministry, would have pending accounts with the Prosecutor’s Office.
Who are the candidates for mayor of Independencia and what do they propose?
Alfredo Reynaga Ramírez – We are Peru
The candidate for Somos Perú for mayor of Independencia, Alfredo Reynaga Ramírez (58), is an economist and has a master’s degree in Administration and Social Management.
Until 2017 he belonged to Peru Possible, a party founded by Alejandro Toledo, investigated for crimes of influence peddling, collusion and money laundering. After that first registration, he spent three years in Peru Patria Segura.
In his resume published in the National Elections Jury (JNE) he records a food lawsuit filed against him.
Reynaga Ramírez is allegedly accused of the crime of embezzlement (file 153-2012) and improper collection (file 6134-2018). The first process is in the trial stage and the second is in appeal.
Proposals:

Gregorio Bernardino Quispe Alvino – Podemos Peru

Henrry Alejandro Álvarez Jacinto – Advance Country

- Digital municipal government: promote the digitization of services and attention to the citizen, as well as strengthen the administrative management system.
- Absence of advice to generate investment: offer qualified advice to generate conditions of opportunity and competitiveness.
Maritza Atila Valdivia Carbajal – Patriotic Party of Peru
