ANDhe month of December 2021 was the safest in the last 19 years. This was stated this Saturday by Major General Herman Alejandro Bustamante Jiménez, director of Citizen Security, in the report presented after the end of the year celebration in the country.
(Number of daily infections by covid rose to 12,415 this January 1).
According to the senior officer, This downward record was marked by a significant reduction in the crime of homicide in 13 regions of the country and a significant reduction in personal injuries, with 504 fewer cases in 2021.
“The good behavior of citizens is highlighted in events such as December festivities, Pan American Games, the final of Colombian soccer and the Cali fair”, informed the Police.
YEAR-END CELEBRATION BALANCE SHEET
According to the National Police, between 06:00 pm on December 31 and 06:00 am on January 1, the emergency line 123 registered 32,460 calls.
According to the first consolidated data, in Bogotá there were six murders during the celebration. In the capital, during the whole month 87 cases of homicide were reported.
The Police also reported that it imposed 490 subpoena orders for behavior contrary to coexistence. Most were caused by the carrying of sharp weapons (360 cases) and by fights (89). Another 36 fines were for manipulation of pyrotechnic material.
This Friday alone, more than 100 arrests were made for different crimes and the seizure of 12 firearms.
THERE ARE REPORTS OF 15 ROAD CLAIMS
General Juan Alberto Libreros Morales, Director of Traffic and Transportation of the Police, delivered the balance on mobility and control over the roads on New Year’s Eve.
From the afternoon of December 31 to 6 a.m. on January 1 15 road accidents were registered. Following these events, 8 people lost their lives and 10 were injured.
What’s more, the authorities carried out 353 drunkenness tests on drivers, of which 25 were positive.
On the other hand, according to the Police report, in December more than 4,747 bottles of adulterated or contraband liquor, valued at 300 million pesos, were seized during the Christmas Plan.
VAN 662 INJURED WITH GUN
Despite the constant calls to avoid the use of gunpowder in December celebrations, there are still cases of people burned with pyrotechnic material.
On New Year’s Eve, according to the preliminary report from the National Institute of Health, 14 cases were presented in the departments of Nariño, Cauca and Cundinamarca, affecting 11 adults and 3 minors.
With these cases, the total number of injured by gunpowder burns rose to 662 people during the month of December.
