They frustrate an escape attempt by a prisoner in La Joya

An attempt to escape from a prisoner from La Joya prison was frustrated by units of the National Police, at a time when he was taken to the Santo Tomás Hospital for a medical appointment.

As reported by the General Directorate of the Penitentiary System, when the private arrived at the hospital he ran out and a vehicle was waiting for him; however, police officers prevented the escape and the alleged accomplice who would help him escape was captured.

“The corresponding sanctions will be applied and a complaint will be filed for the attempted evasion before the competent authorities,” the DGSP mentioned.

He added that he will not tolerate this type of behavior by the prison population and will apply the Law accordingly.
