For moving 3.8 kilos of cocaine hidden in seven cans of sardines, a 27-year-old citizen was arrested at the La Pastora Citizen Attention Post (PAC), located on the highway that connects the state of Lara (Barquisimeto) with Trujillo (Trujillo).
The aforementioned Pac is under the command of officials of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) who carry out review and supervision tasks for public transport in the aforementioned road interconnection with the Trujillo entity.
The detainee was checked when he was traveling on board a public transport unit belonging to the “Expresos Sur del Lago” line, coming from Caja Seca, Zulia state; according to information provided in an institutional note by G/D Rafael David Prieto Martínez, commander of the Comprehensive Defense Operational Zone (Zodi Lara).
Explaining that said procedure was carried out within the framework of Operation Bolivarian Shield 2022, through which it has been possible to dismantle different criminal groups throughout the territory.
Officers attached to the third company of detachment No. 122 and URIA -12 (Lara), in profiling tasks, at the time of the routine verification of passengers, they realized that in a gift box that the detainee was carrying, he was transferring hidden, seven cans of sardines containing in their interior an alleged drug called cocaine, with a gross weight of 3,852 kilograms, explained Prieto Martínez.
Regarding the final destination of the delivery, it would be in the city of Caracas, but “thanks to the expertise of the GNB troops, it did not materialize,” said the senior military chief who stressed the permanent fight against drugs that the Armed Forces maintains. It concluded by noting that said procedure was placed at the order of the Prosecutor’s Office No. 11 with jurisdiction over drugs of the Public Ministry (MP) of the state of Lara.
