Havana Cuba. – From the Valle Grande prison of maximum rigor, which is located in the municipality of La Lisa, several prisoners denounce a series of reprisals by the authorities of that prison against the demonstrator of the 11J Pedro Albert Sanchez.
According to the inmates, Sánchez refused to wear a prison uniform and instead wore white, which led the military to deny him the right to use the phone and sunbathe.
These reprisals determined in turn that from the night of Sunday, September 11, the protester began a hunger strike demanding the restitution of his rights, as well as his release and that of all the imprisoned protesters.
Through his son, who was allowed to see him on Tuesday the 13th, it was learned that Sánchez is too poor, very thin, and also pale because he has not sunbathed since mid-August, which was when the punishment began.
The 66-year-old Physics and Mathematics teacher has prostate cancer, whose treatment was unfinished when he was imprisoned; he also suffers from chronic ulcerative colitis.
Through another prisoner it was also learned that on the night of Tuesday the 13th the protester felt bad and had to be taken to the infirmary, from where he was later transferred to a cell, isolated, without his belongings, without a mattress and in underwear.
Pedro Albert Sánchez has been imprisoned since November 3, 2021, accused of the alleged crimes of public disorder and contempt, although so far he has not received the prosecutor’s request. His son also reported that the authorities promised to hold the trial in late July or early August, but that was not the case.
