The idea with the meeting, according to Lourdes Denis, Katoen Natie’s chief of staff, is to create an agreement with Inefop to train contracted personnel. “We have a very important challenge ahead of us. Historically we have trained our personnel in the different specific tasks, such as handling large high-tech machines, but as we are growing rapidly and with the extension of the concession, we are going to incorporate more personnel and it seemed like a good idea to have the collaboration of INEFOP, taking into account the wide variety of preparation options it has, with the aim of further professionalizing the staff to maintain the level of quality and safety standards”, explained Denis. As she reported, since 2021 more than 100 people have joined the company. From INEFOP a series of tools were proposed and they are already starting a workshop called Templar, which began this Wednesday, and which has 30 people being trained.
“The bet is to continue advancing in this direction and generate a link with professionals who are on the INEFOP primer,” said Katoen Natie’s chief of staff. She explained that the “heart of the activity” of the company is operational, but they are currently requiring more staff in the administrative areas as well. «Today we are prioritizing port workers because it is a very valuable experience and we are interested in them coming to work with us. In this sense, INEFOP is going to help us to spread those needs and attract those talents that interest us so much”, said Denis. For his part, Pablo Puppo, director of INEFOP, highlighted the meeting and assured that it is essential “to have fluid, direct communication, and generate collaboration with large employers, particularly those that involve new jobs,” said Puppo. And he was “very pleased” to start offering courses on specific jobs in the port. “We hope that this is for the benefit of the company, of those who work today and those who will work in the future,” said the director of INEFOP.
