Brazilian tourism revenue grows 32% in July

Brazilian tourism earned R$ 18.3 billion in July, informed today (16) the Tourism Council of the Federation of Trade in Goods, Services and Tourism of the State of São Paulo (FecomercioSP). According to the federation, this meant growth of 32.1% compared to the same period last year and the result was driven by school holidays. Brazilian tourism revenue grows 32% in July

Compared to July 2019, before the covid-19 pandemic, revenue was 2% lower.

The segment that most contributed to the rise in tourism in July was air transport, which grew 86.8% year-on-year, followed by accommodation and food services (22%) and cultural, recreational and sports activities ( 18.8%).

In absolute values, the air transport sector contributed with R$ 6.2 billion of this sector’s total revenue. On the other hand, accommodation and food services earned R$ 5.2 billion. The land transport sector, made up of intercity, interstate and international buses, in addition to tourist trains, added up to R$ 2.9 billion.

Then came the segments of vehicle rental, agencies and tour operators (revenue of R$ 2.7 billion in July); cultural, recreational and sports activities (R$ 1.27 billion); and water transport (R$ 49 million).
