The leader of the Renovating Democratic Union (Unamos), in the department of Carazo, and current political exile, Dulce Porras, denounced that the Police of the Daniel Ortega regime kidnapped her brother in Jinotepe, on the night of this Thursday, September 15 Freddy Martin Porras.

Porras explained at approximately 6:00 pm, a patrol showed up at the home of his brother Freddy, who was beaten along with his wife and daughter, and then transferred to the Jinotepe police station. His relatives went to the place to inquire about the reasons for the arrest, but did not provide them with any information.

“It was a violent capture,” warned Porras. The officers “had no arrest warrant” and also “took their phones” from all family members to prevent them from recording what was happening.

Porras also specified that his brother is a hard-working person, who has spent more than twenty years dedicating himself to the distribution of medicines in the fourth region. Therefore, she values that her arrest is related to her political activity through Unamos, formerly known as the Sandinista Renovation Movement (MRS).

“I feel that the new wave of arrests of the Nicaraguan regime is against relatives of those of us who are here, in exile,” said Porras.

They persecute Unamos leaders and their relatives

The kidnapping of the brother of the Unamos leader occurs a day after that political organization denounced that the Ortega dictatorship “unleashed in the last two weeks a repressive onslaught” against that political organization.

Unamos did not detail in its statement the number of arrests of its affiliates recorded in the last two weeks. Nevertheless, CONFIDENTIAL learned that in recent days there have been at least five arrests of dissidents to the Ortega-Murillo regime in different municipalities of the country.

“I feel that it is a new pattern for these people to capture the relatives of those who were somehow involved or are participating in the fight against the government. I have participated, but my brother is not a politician, far from it,” said Porras.

This September 15 also the human rights collective Nicaragua Never Again denounced that the regime’s Police tried to capture, on the night of September 13, Mr. Javier Alberto Álvarez Zamora, who decided to leave Nicaragua to request international protection. But not finding him in his home, the officers arbitrarily detained his wife Jeannine Horvilleur Cuadra, 63, and Ana Carolina Álvarez Horvilleur, 43, both of Nicaraguan and French nationality.

Since that day, both women have been detained in the Directorate of Judicial Assistance, known as El Chipote, in Managua, without knowing the reason for their arrest, according to Álvarez Zamora’s complaint to the human rights group Nicaragua Nunca Más, whose headquarters is located in San Jose, Costa Rica.
