Corinthians guaranteed its presence in the final of the Copa do Brasil after defeating Fluminense 3-0, on Thursday night (15) at Neo Química Arena, in the second game of the semifinal. Now, Timão measures forces with Flamengo in the decision of the competition, which will be played on October 12th and 19th.

This is the seventh opportunity in which the Parque São Jorge team reaches a decision in the Copa do Brasil, a competition they won in 1995, 2002 and 2009.
Pushed by their passionate fans, Corinthians went in search of victory in the 90 minutes (which would guarantee them a spot in the final after 2-2 in the first leg) and began the confrontation advancing their lines and not leaving Fluminense comfortable. With that, Timão created the best opportunities to score in the first stage, opening the score in a failure of Tricolor’s exit.
In the 33rd minute, goalkeeper Fábio came out with a kick, Balbuena won high and sent it to Róger Guedes, who scored with Renato Augusto, who, from the edge of the area, hit a beautiful kick.
On the other side of the field, Tricolor das Laranjeiras presented very little, and reached the clearest opportunity in the 14th minute of the final stage, in a free-kick by Arias that stopped at the crossbar of the goal defended by Cássio.
Corinthians was clearly superior to Fluminense, who advanced their lines and gave space for the opposing counterattack. And, with so much trying, Timão increased the score in the last minutes.
In the 45th minute, Giuliano secured the second with a kick from inside the area, after receiving a pass from Adson, and in the 48th minute Corinthians reached the third when Felipe Melo missed the cut.

Final with Flamengo
Now, Corinthians meets Flamengo in the final of the Copa do Brasil. This will be the second opportunity in which Timão and Rubro-Negro will face each other in the final of a national competition, after the São Paulo title in the 1991 Supercopa do Brasil.
