Shortly after the end of 2021, the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS, for its acronym in English) shared the Concacaf “Ideal Team” with the most outstanding players of the last season, and the surprise is due to the number of Mexican footballers that appear in the starting XI.
Mexico, with four representatives, stood out from the rest of the countries. They are Guillermo Ochoa (America), Hector Herrera (Atlético de Madrid, Spain), Hirving lozano (Napoli, Italy) and Edson alvarez (Ajax, The Netherlands).
For the first time since the IFFHS elaborated the ideal XI of the Concacaf, the organization decided to also consider those who participated in the Concachampions 2021 contest that they won Rayados from Monterrey.
On the defensive line Alvarez is accompanied by Miles robinson of Atlanta United, the jamaican Alvas powell (Philadelphia Union) and the Canadian Alphonso davies (Bayern Munich, Germany).
Herrera, meanwhile, integrates the midfield with the Americans Brenda aaronson (Salzburg, Austria) already Weston McKennie (Juventus, Italy).
Along with the aforementioned Lozano, the attack of this select team is also made up of the Canadians Cyle Larin (Besiktas, Turkey) and Jonathan david (Lille, France).
Among the alternates appears the Chilean Sebastian Vegas, but his exclusion from the main cast draws attention because he was a fundamental piece in obtaining the Concachampions by Striped.
The coach of the team is also Mexican: Javier “Vasco” Aguirre, who was in charge of Monterrey to conquer the continental tournament.
Undoubtedly, the surprise passes by the side of the Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas, who still remains in the Paris Saint-Germain and alternates ownership with the Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma.
