Berta Valle meets with MEPs prior to the session on the political persecution of Ortega

Berta Valle, wife of the political scientist and political prisoner Félix Maradiaga, met this Tuesday with deputies of different political tendencies in the European Parliament, prior to the session next Thursday, September 15, where the increase in repression against Nicaraguans will be discussed. by the Ortega regime.

“Today we have met in the European Parliament with Berta Valle. Her husband, the Nicaraguan Félix Maradiaga, has been unjustly imprisoned for more than a year by the criminal and despotic government of Ortega,” said the Popular Party MEP Gabriel Mato Adroverthrough his Twitter account.

“We cannot remain silent in the face of injustices like this,” added the parliamentarian, who added a hashtag #NicaraguaFree #HRin support of more than 200 political prisoners in Nicaragua.

For his part, the Member of the European Parliament for Spain, Leopoldo Lopez Gilof the Popular Party, and who also spoke with Berta Valle, expressed through a tweet that “we stand in solidarity with all the political prisoners of #Nicaragua».

“Today in the European Parliament we have talked with Berta Valle, wife of Félix Maradiaga, who has been in prison for more than a year by the Ortega-Murillo regime,” reported the parliamentarian of Venezuelan origin.

Also, MEP Alicia Homs of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) expressed her satisfaction at the meeting this Tuesday with Maradiaga’s wife.

Other MEPs who were with Valle were Soraya Rodríguez, Giorgos Kyrtsos, Javier Nart, José Ramón Bauzá; the latter has strongly expressed himself against the Ortega regime and has demanded sanctions.

“The human rights crisis in Nicaragua continues to worsen. The MEPs have approved five resolutions that condemn the serious situation of human rights in Nicaragua. One of the pressure measures that they intend to exert against Ortega and Murillo is the revision of the clause of respect for human rights.
