The hunt of the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo against Nicaraguan opponents continues. The Democratic Renovating Union (Unamos), formerly known as the Sandinista Renovating Movement (MRS), denounced that the Ortega dictatorship “unleashed a repressive attack in the last two weeks” against that political organization.
Unamos did not detail in its statement the number of arrests of its affiliates recorded in the last two weeks. Nevertheless, CONFIDENTIAL learned that in the last 72 hours there have been at least five arrests of dissidents to the Ortega-Murillo regime in different municipalities of the country.
“Harassment, persecution, threats have increased considerably in different departments of the country against our affiliates and their families, and equally there have already been several kidnappings”, he denounced in a statement released on September 14.
In the statement they point out that the intention of the Ortega-Murillo dictatorship is to silence them and destroy their organization. Although, they warned that “they will not achieve it, as they have not achieved in the 27 years of our existence, as they have failed even with the imprisonment of a large part of our leadership, and the death in prison of our vice president Hugo Torres” .
The detainees

On September 12, the citizen observatory Urnas Abiertas published an alert about “the aggravation of political violence faced by the population of Bluefields”, and highlighted that the Police, in alliance with party structures of the Sandinista Front, “increased the persecution against opposition figures.”
Ivania Álvarez, director of citizen networks at Urnas Abiertas, indicated that between September 6 and 11, the cases of ten people were registered, who were victims of siege, persecution and raids ordered by the Ortega-Murillo regime in Bluefields. Some of those harassed had to leave the municipality to “avoid possible arrest or the use of physical violence by the Police.”
