he iconsumer price index (IPC) of Argentina rose 7% in August compared to July, as reported by Indec on Wednesday.
With the August data inflation reached 78.5% year-on-year and accumulated a rise of 56.4% in the first eight months of the year.
According to the official report, the divisions with the highest rise in August were the clothing and footwear (9.9%), miscellaneous goods and services (8.7%), and home equipment and maintenance (8.4%). The latter was affected by the salary increase of workers in private homes.
In August, the increase in the share of prepaid medicine also stood out, which had an impact on the health division (5.7%); of water and electricity services in some regions, which had an impact on housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (5.5%); and mobile telephony services in most regions, which was reflected in communication (4.1%).
The INDEC pointed out that the highest incidence in all regions was contributed by the increase in food and non-alcoholic beverages (7.1%). Within the division, the increase in vegetables, tubers and legumes, sugar, sweets, chocolate, sweets, fruits, oils, fats and butter, and milk, dairy products and eggs stood out.
