The government spokesperson, Camila Vallejo, referred to the controversy raised by Chile Vamos as a result of her statements regarding the agreements of the new constituent process.
It should be noted that the right-wing coalition announced that it will not participate in the meeting scheduled for this Thursday and asked the Government of President Gabriel Boric to withdraw from the negotiating table and reconfigure the political forces participating in the instance.
The determination comes after the annoyance generated by Vallejo’s statements after a statement on social networks in which he reported that agreements had been reached on matters that were still pending, such as the participation of independents and native peoples.
In this regard, the Secretary of State indicated that “although we are not an actor that negotiates in that space, we are not prescinding, we are going to see co-legislators, because very important reforms are going to be required. That is our role and it will continue to be our role.”
“And well, at this time obviously some controversial situations are generated, tensions, but as our minister said last night, history shows that you have to be calm and temperate at that time to take care of the success of this process,” he added.
Along the same lines, he warned that “today we are the Government, and as a Government we have responsibilities above all in terms of democratic advances. Therefore, we have a role to play, understanding that the protagonists are the parliamentarians, the parties politicians, who have also established a space of goodwill, of commitment around channeling this process”.
“My spokesperson was very clear, in it I said that we as a government are very hopeful of the progress that this space may have, because we want it to do well. Beyond the opinions that may be legitimate, the important thing is that we continue to take care of this process, because it cannot be a fragile table, it has to be solid and that implies the disposition and will of all the actors”, he sentenced.
