Secretary General of OPEC paid honors to the Liberator Simón Bolívar

This Wednesday the secretary general of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Haitham Al Ghais, visited the Mausoleum of the Liberator Simón Bolívar to make a floral offering and honor the father of the country.

In the protocol act Also present at the National Pantheon were the Governor of Venezuela before the international energy organization, Ángel González, and the Vice President of International Affairs of PDVSA, Ronny Romero, the Oil Ministry reviewed in a press release.

They were also accompanied by the Director of the Office of the General Secretariat, Shakir Mahmoud Alrifaie, and the Deputy Minister for Multilateral Issues, Rubén Molina.

The activity is part of the official agenda carried out by Al Ghais with authorities of the national government in the framework of the celebration of the 62nd anniversary of OPEC.

For his part, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted in a tweet the strategic role played by the international organization in the stability of the world energy market.

“Faced with the world oil and gas supply crisis, OPEC becomes more important as a mechanism for the defense and balance of the oil market. The member countries, we are more united than ever, strengthening principles and doctrines”, he wrote.

The Secretary General of OPEC, Haitham Al Ghais, arrived in Venezuela on Tuesday and was received at the Maiquetía International Airport by the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Carlos Farias.
