They do not rule out suing the MP for revealing banking secrets of people who are not related to the Odebrecht case

This Wednesday morning, the lawyer Basilio González, who is the defender of one of those involved in the Odebrecht case, asserted that a series of illegalities have been committed in the reading of the Fiscal View of the Public Ministry.

“It is sad that in a fiscal hearing, which corresponds to the Public Ministry and you are going to listen to the part of the Public Ministry, but when we plead, they are going to realize the falsehoods and the way in which these crimes were investigated, committing illegalities,” he said.

The lawyer stressed that during the second day of the hearing, names of people and relatives of his client were mentioned that are not related to the investigation. “Banking secrecy was violated, a series of procedural acts have been violated against my client, which is not fair and we want to inform the public of this,” he said.

For this reason, González revealed that he does not rule out suing the Public Ministry for mentioning and revealing bank secrets of people who are not related to this investigation.

According to the jurist, these instructions were carried out by former prosecutor Kenia Porcell, “a lady who had to resign as a result of the Varela Leaks, which says that there was a parallel prosecution and a submission of the Public Ministry to the Executive.”

He mentioned articles 24 and 25 of Law 4 of 2017 that “I call the fruit of the poisoned tree because that law was made precisely to help the people of Odebrecht.”
