Mario Abdo Benítez, will refer, among others, to transnational organized crime in his speech on September 20 before the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
In a statement to journalists from the Palacio de López, seat of government in Asunción, César Arriola, Minister of Foreign Affairs, indicated that Abdo Benítez will arrive next Sunday in that US city, which this year hosts the 77th session of the General Assembly from the ONU.
The Paraguayan leader’s official agenda includes, in addition to his speech, scheduled for September 20, bilateral meetings with his Guatemalan counterpart, Alejandro Giammattei, and with the UN Secretary General, António Guterres.
According to the head of Paraguayan diplomacy, the president will address foreign policy issues, the strengthening of multilateralism and transnational organized crime in his speech before the General Assembly.
In addition, he indicated that he will highlight Paraguay “as an integrationist country” and its participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations, among others.
The president will also meet with representatives of the multinational Tigo Millicom.
After his participation in the UN meeting, the last one before handing over the Presidency in August of next year, Abdo Benítez will travel to Miami, where he will speak on free markets and democracy at an event organized by a university. EFE
