Murillo remains silent before the UN report denouncing increased repression in the country

The Vice President of Nicaragua, Rosario Murillo, remained silent after the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) provided a report on Tuesday denouncing that in recent months the human rights situation has been deteriorating in the country.

According to the organization, the social and political crisis has worsened with the regime’s persecution of the Catholic Church, the closure of civic spaces, the cancellation of non-governmental organizations, the increase in political prisoners, the siege against the opposition and the lack of Justice.

Instead of going against the 45 UN countries urging Ortega to “reestablish dialogue” or ranting against the body, the regime’s spokeswoman preferred to use the 15 minutes and 43 seconds of her monologue through her government propaganda media to talk about the festive activities for the national week and municipal projects.

He recalled that on Monday afternoon he was together with the dictator Daniel Ortega presiding over the reception of the torch of freedom, “celebrating life, thanking God for harmony, for peace and committing ourselves to strengthen more and more this homeland where there is peace and there is common good».

He also reported that this Wednesday the torch of freedom was handed over to the educational authorities of Costa Rica. “It was delivered in Peñas Blancas (…) For four days the torch was traveling 503 kilometers of blessed ground in the hands of outstanding students, athletes and also officers of the Army and our National Police.”

Murillo says that Nicaragua is a safe country

Despite the wave of femicide that the country has been experiencing since the beginning of 2022, including robberies and kidnappings and arbitrary arrests, the first lady affirmed that Nicaragua is a country “that celebrates and lives happily because it lives safely and makes us feel privileged.”

The Coordinator of the Communication and Citizenship Council recalled that tomorrow, September 14, there will be “harmonious, colorful parades throughout the country, that there is a homeland and there is peace,” although its dictatorship has established as a crime that Nicaraguans can show the national flag and the colors blue and white, beyond the partisan control of Sandinismo.

“We are waiting for what we call the promise of the students and everyone with the sacred blue and white flag of our blessed and always free homeland,” he said.

He also pointed out that tomorrow, on Avenida de Bolívar a Chávez, the dictator Daniel Ortega will be presiding over “those festive events of our blessed homeland.”

“The deputy dictator said that her regime is “proud” to celebrate the month of the homeland in dignity, in harmony, in celebration of life, in defense of life. Proud to be Nicaraguans by the grace of God. Here he triumphs; here lives that God of all victories…”, without mentioning, of course, that his “concord” and his “God” have nothing to do with the priests and a bishop who have been imprisoned, without even carrying out legitimate judicial processes.

This is one of the few times that Murillo avoids referring to the call of a group of 45 member countries of the United Nations Organization (UN) that urged the Ortega regime to “reestablish the national dialogue”, however the dictatorship has heeded ignored.
