Some 25 people reported missing, in different sectors of the country, have been rescued so far this year by the National Police (PN) through the National Directorate of the Rural and Tourist Environmental Police.
According to Commissioner Dalys Melo, head of the National Directorate of the Rural Environmental and Tourist Police of the PN, these rescues took place in search and patrol operations in different tourist sectors, both aquatic and terrestrial.
He said they are kept 24 hours a day safeguarding the Panamanian and foreign population and explained that rescues have taken place in areas such as India Dormida, Boquete, Volcán, trail areas and Coiba Island.
He recommended that tourists keep their belongings in a safe place and carry the PN telephone numbers with them in case of any mishap.
Lieutenant David Moreno, and 2nd Corporal. Fidencio Ibarra, rescued a 6-year-old boy in the Altos de La Estancia sector. At the same time, they also advised their parents and other relatives to reinforce the surveillance and care of their children.
Mrs. Diana Trujillo, after reporting the disappearance of her little infant, infinitely thanked the police units for having rescued her son safe and sound.
