Lacava rules out running for the 2024 presidential elections while Nicolás Maduro is a candidate

Governor Rafael Lacava said that there is a narrative about his alleged plans to run as a candidate, while noting that “those of us who are with Nicolás Maduro, work hard for his re-election”

The governor of Carabobo state, Rafael Lacava, ruled out running as a candidate for the 2024 presidential elections while President Nicolás Maduro is the option of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).

“Whoever knows about my relationship with the president of the republic, Nicolás Maduro, for whom I work, knows that while he is there, it is impossible for me to opt for a candidacy for the 2024 elections,” the governor assured in an interview. Radio Union.

Lacava said that there is a narrative about his alleged plans to run as a candidate, while pointing out that “those of us who are with Nicolás Maduro, work hard for his re-election.”

A day earlier, the Venezuelan leader reiterated that the presidential elections will be held in 2024, a process for which the PSUV is already preparing through the reorganization of their basesthe board of directors and the youth of the party.

He also assured that in 2025 there will be joint elections: legislative, regional and municipal: “It is very important to prepare ourselves for two key years of the political revolution: prepare ourselves for the great victory of the presidential elections in 2024 and prepare ourselves because in the year 2025 there are joint elections for the National Assembly, governorships and joint mayorships».

For now, the National Electoral Council has not denied or affirmed the statements of the Venezuelan ruler.

Lacava and the budget

The governor of the state of Carabobo also referred to the budgetary problems that the governments have faced – alleging the sanctions of the United States – throughout the country, and asserted that at least 70% of the budget of his entity has been allocated to health care.

“We have had to govern without oil income, because when the blockades and sanctions were generated, we did not have the possibility of invoicing our oil, of having international accounts to pay for medical supplies, surgical material and despite that, we are taking care of the health », asserted Lacava.
