The president declared that he chose Martinelli, because it is his “trust” and not “by political sector”

The president of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou referred this Tuesday to the appointment of Nicolás Martinelli as director general of the Ministry of the Interiorinstead of Luis Calabria, who resigned at the end of August.
“I took out a person who was next to me, the one who loses is me. The one we help is the Ministry of the Interior,” The president maintained in relation to Martinelli, who had been serving as advisor to the Presidency since February 2021.
He added that he chose him because he is “a person he trusts” and not because of his “political sector”. And he remembered that Martinelli has worked by his side since the beginning of Aire Fresco.
“He has been trained in law and has been trained in administration”, Lacalle Pou noted.
The president also regretted leaving Calabria and said that “surely” in the future I will have “much” to contribute “to National Party and the government.
“He has been a great CEO of the ministry in addition to a great guy“, he concluded.
