President of the PS criticizes Chile Vamos for ignoring agreements: “The right spoke sincerely inside the meeting, but outside it spoke to its public”

The president of the Socialist Party (PS), Paulina Vodanović, referred to the meeting of the parties, held on Monday, to address the constituent process. At the meeting, the communities reached a series of agreements, but later Chile Vamos ignored them. The PS helmsman questioned the opposition coalition and pointed to “double speeches.”

“This double talk is very complex. It seems to me that this is what happened yesterday: the right wing spoke sincerely inside the meeting, but outside it spoke to its public, so to speak, or to the public toughest member of his coalition,” Vodanovic said in conversation with The Counter at La Clave.

Ignorance of the agreement

The official parties announced on Monday, after the meeting between parties, five agreements: drafting of a new Constitution; 100% elected convention; gender parity among the members of the body; accompaniment of a committee of experts and exit plebiscite with compulsory voting.

Subsequently, the government spokesperson minister, Camila Vallejo, valued the agreement. However, in the afternoon, Chile Vamos ignored the agreement reached and criticized the government’s statements.

“We consider regrettable the declarations of government ministers and officials of the ruling party who seek to precipitate results, putting the talks and agreements under way at risk,” said Vamos in a statement from Chile.

In this regard, Vodanovic stated that “this surprises me a lot because it was discussed, it was a very good meeting, with a good spirit, and where the agreements that were communicated were reached. I do not see what the problem is. What I heard later is that He said that ‘they should not have communicated, that they were not firm’. Well, but they are the agreements of the day’s session, in which they were thinking about how we were advancing”.

“This is not a definitive meeting, it is one of the many meetings that must be held, therefore I think there is an overinterpretation on the part of Chile Vamos,” he added.

The former Undersecretary of the Armed Forces affirmed that the presidents of the UDI and Evópoli, Javier Macaya Y Light Pobleterespectively, “went to the press point and said that we had reached agreements on certain matters. I don’t understand what the problem is with communicating agreements that are made for citizens.”

“I think what happened inside is that we talked, we all told the truth and then there are internal tensions in some parties that make their representatives begin to qualify or end up blaming the ruling party, which is not to blame for anything. They put the patch on before the wound,” Vodanovic said.

Inclusion of experts

Different representatives of Chile Vamos have expressed their willingness to include experts in the new constituent process. On this, the helmsman of the PS maintained: “I asked them yesterday to clarify the subject of the experts, what they were for, how they were going to be constituted, what the profile was. There was no clarification.”

“What I feel is that they have said something in the meetings and other things publicly, like the experts, but not even they know or are very clear about what for,” the lawyer continued.

“I would ask for seriousness in the conversations, I think they have to make an adjustment and recognize if they finally went to speak without having enough support from their parliamentarians (…) that they come clean, but do not blame the neighbors for up front,” he added.
