Manipulator and without critical capacity: this is the profile of Marset, according to a psychologist of Justice

He tried to hide information from her, but the psychologist Natalia Bonilla noticed it and put it in her evaluation report. She inferred that Sebastián Marset wanted to generate a positive impact on her and that is why when he told her the facts that had led him to be imprisoned, he omitted the information that he believed would be detrimental for the attorney to suggest that it was in order to guarantee her parole. She still described him in 2017 as an immature, manipulative man with no self-critical capacity.

“The psychological evaluation reveals a subject with an immature, manipulative personality organization, who has currently managed to adapt to the established rules (…) Although he appears to be the perpetrator of the crimes, he presents a disaffected discourse, where it is not observed that manages to adopt a self-critical and reflective attitude about his behavior,” he assessed according to the record he accessed The Observerin which the possibility of giving him parole for the cause of Operation Halcón (the largest he had in Uruguay) was analyzed.

When asked about his plans once he was released, Marset said: “I’m going to live with my partner… And I’m going to go back to work in one of the workshops I used to work for.” This, in Bonilla’s opinion, seemed “little supported but consistent with the tools” he had.

In addition, he expressed himself about his consumption behaviors. “I smoked some fasito that another… but I was never very uncontrolled,” he summed up. Juan José Ayala, the drug trafficker’s lawyer, described him as a person who “never ingested alcohol, or any drug, and who doesn’t even smoke,” according to several documents in which he requested his parole. “He has managed to excel on his own merit and with excellent grades, having finished the sixth year of high school, having also learned the trade of sheet metal worker and painter,” he stressed.

The psychologist reported that he was in good physical condition and had a normal intellectual level. Her speech was clear, fluid and she realized that she had the capacity for abstraction.

The drug trafficker was released in January 2018 and that year he traveled to Paraguay where he developed his business. He is currently suspected, according to the Colombian Justice, of being the intellectual author of the murder of prosecutor Marcelo Pecci, who carried out the largest anti-drug operation in the history of Paraguay.

Marset according to Marset

As Bonilla concluded based on Marset’s statements, he was born into a disintegrated family with a low socioeconomic background in the Piedras Blancas neighborhood.

“My father left when I was eight years old. As a boy I had more contact with him than now, he lives in Rocha and is a truck driver. My mother is a domestic,” he recounted at the time. He maintained that no member of his family had a criminal record.

Before being sentenced, he lived in his mother’s house with his daughter. “I lived in Solymar and had recently left my workshop to my partner… I wasn’t working, I was just doing this,” he described and pointed out that the visits he received in prison were only from his wife and his mother.

He also expressed himself about the altercation he had in prison with another prisoner, whom he attacked with a prison cut. “Due to some problems I had, they brought me here,” he summed up about the transfer of a Mercedes unit to Comcar.
