The candidate for re-election to the Presidency of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, was questioned this Monday (12) in a podcast with evangelical leaders and pastors broadcast on various YouTube channels.
During the event, which was the only agenda as a candidate during the day, Bolsonaro answered questions about his personal life, education, economy, politics and actions during the pandemic.
Bolsonaro spoke about the exemption from the tax on industrialized products (IPI) for the hearing impaired, as well as commenting on the role of the first lady in his government.
Asked about his anti-drug policy, Jair Bolsonaro replied that his government has invested heavily in rehabilitation homes. According to him, more productive than taking people off drugs is “not letting them in”. According to the candidate, one of the ways to keep people away from drugs is to “promote a policy of full employment”.
Regarding lines and expressions used during the pandemic, the reelection candidate said he regretted some of the phrases he said. Bolsonaro stated that he regretted having said that he was not “a gravedigger” and that the imitation of a person dying of suffocation was taken out of context.
“I did have a tantrum, yes. I regret. The dudes [da mídia] They wanted to take me seriously. I had covid-19. I was in the risk group. I took medicine and the next day it was fine. But the whole press massacred the gravedigger and alligator business, crippling medical autonomy. The gravedigger issue I would withdraw. The alligator was a figure of speech I might not use. [A questão da asfixia]if you take the image, I am not mocking anyone, as they wanted to say,” Bolsonaro said when responding to interviewers.
The politician also spoke about the war between Russia and Ukraine and said he met for about 3 hours with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In addition to guaranteeing the import of Russian fertilizers, Brazil will also soon receive diesel from that country. Among the reasons given by Putin for the invasion, the Ukrainian intention to join NATO.
The candidate also defended the policy of facilitating the possession of weapons, maintaining that an armed person “can stop violence by intimidating criminals”. According to Bolsonaro, the greater number of weapons in society has produced a reduction in violence.
