The defense attorney for the leader of the Coordinadora Arauco Malleco (CAM), Hector Llaitul, Rodrigo Romanfiled an appeal with the Supreme Court, after the Temuco Court of Appeals has rejected the request to modify the defendant’s preventive detention.
Llaitul was arrested in the city of Cañete on August 24 by the Investigative Police when he was in the restaurant “El Viajero” and later transferred to a Bio Bio prison in Concepción.

Specifically, the defense seeks the reversal of the Temuco Court of Appeals ruling and seeks the immediate release of the CAM leader, accusing that the detention was arbitrary and illegal, emphasizing that it is a political operation.
The crimes that are imputed to Llaitul are: usurpation, theft of wood and attack on the authority added to three infractions to the Internal Security Law.
