Mayor of Yacuiba withdraws injunction against journalist

The mayor of Yacuiba, Carlos Eduardo Brú, withdrew this Monday the judicial request for the journalist Roberto Pumafrom Radio Frontera, reveals the source of information about complaints about the poor condition of the school breakfast products distributed in a school in a rural area.

Brú made the decision in the midst of several pronouncements by union organizations and journalists’ associations in the country that question his actions in going to ordinary justice.

“I have decided to withdraw the judicial request that I made to the journalist Roberto Pumathrough the judicial authorities. I asked the judge to annul it and file it,” declared the building authority at a press conference.

Nevertheless, Brú said that the investigations into the alleged poor condition will be redirected of school breakfast products and will meet with educational authorities and parents for clarification.

“If the company is to blame, we will terminate the contract,” warned the authority, adding that it will also send documentation of the case to the Yacuiba Press Workers’ Union to send it to the National Ethics Tribunal.

Members of the Cercado Press Workers’ Union staged a march in support of Puma on Monday through the city center of the capital of Tarija.
