The tumor of approximately 10 centimeters was located on the right side of the hemithorax and was located in the back of the aortic arch. The operation was successful and the patient remains stable.
“Today we changed a bit and we extracted a tumor that seems to be part of the thyroid gland, but that was compressing the trachea to a point where the patient was reporting that he was short of breath, a tomography was done and it was found that there was a tumor of a significant dimension that compressed the trachea and was brought to surgery and the tumor was released in its entirety, “said Camilo Rodríguez, medical director of Ciudad de la Salud.
He stressed that the process was laborious but it was possible to remove the tumor in its entirety and that the patient did not present any complications during the procedure and it is expected that the evolution will be favorable.
