Minister Rosa Weber took office today (12) in the presidency of the Federal Supreme Court (STF). Rosa is the third woman to hold the position in the history of the Court and will succeed Justice Luiz Fux, who completed a two-year term.
The president, who will also head the National Council of Justice (CNJ), will be in charge of the Supreme Court for one year. In October 2023, when she will be 75 years old, the minister will have to retire compulsorily. The vice president will be Minister Luís Roberto Barroso.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the presidents of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira, and of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco, in addition to other authorities from the Three Powers.

Rosa Weber was born in Porto Alegre and graduated in Legal Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). She worked in the labor judiciary before arriving at the STF in 2011, when she was appointed by former president Dilma Rousseff. She was a labor judge, passed through the Regional Labor Court of the 4th Region and the Superior Labor Court (TST). After taking office in the Supreme Court, the minister also presided over the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) between 2018 and 2020.
