MIAMI, United States. — Humorist Ulises Toirac lamented the departure from Cuba of his brother, Julio Toirac, and lamented that “the lack of hope” is pushing Cubans to seek new destinations in the world.
In a post posted this Sunday on his Facebook profile, the comedian made clear his pain at the departure of his relative, with whom he shared for almost six decades.
“I have spent days ruminating in silence and licking my wound, and although it has happened to me before, now it is with my brother and we have lived together for almost 60 years. And now God knows,” Toirac wrote.
Although the humorist acknowledged that seeing loved ones leave the island is something that Cubans are already accustomed to, Toirac pointed out that one is never prepared for family separation.
“It has happened to millions. It has happened to me before. But this is my brother and he has had to go to hell, and it is a wound that no one is going to heal. No one is ever going to cure it for us,” he pointed out.
The humorist assured that what pushes Cubans into exile is “the lack of perspective, of life” that they suffer in their country of origin.
“What pushes them is the lack of perspective, of life. Uprooting is preferred over the eternal nonsense, the silly comment and clearly without feet on the ground. The lack of common sense, seeing that there is nowhere to walk, or what is worse: that each step puts our lives more in misery and lack of hope, that each step accentuates social disparity and makes people poorer. people, and more and more people”.
Toirac added that what pushes people to leave Cuba “is being certain that nothing can be done for your future or for the country’s, because they don’t, because they don’t want to,” said the comedian, referring to the class. ruler.
Currently, Cuba is experiencing the largest mass exodus recorded in its history. Most Cubans try to arrive irregularly and through different routes to the United States, a country that in the last year has registered the entry of more than 177,000 nationals of the Caribbean island.
