Simone Tebet defends investing in irrigation in northern Minas Gerais

The candidate for the Presidency of the Republic by the MDB, Simone Tebet, defended today (12) large irrigation projects for the northern region of Minas Gerais. “Here we have potential, we lack the will to find a solution to the problem that plagues the region, which is the lack of water; and also investing heavily in the issue of renewable energy, especially solar energy,” she said in the Minas Gerais municipality of Montes Claros, where she took part in a walk and met with local businessmen.Simone Tebet defends investing in irrigation in northern Minas Gerais

According to her, her government’s priority, if elected, is to eradicate poverty and hunger by promoting development in all regions of the country, generating employment and income. “All regions have conditions to be fertile, to produce, to generate employment and income, the north of Minas is no different. What is lacking is the political will to definitively bring a large irrigation project so that the region can produce the fruits and export, generate employment and income, finishing the dams and guaranteeing dignity for its people,” she said.

In an interview with journalists, Simone also said that she wants to ensure security, stability and predictability for the country in attracting private investment for infrastructure works. In addition, she defended the continuity of the Auxílio Brasil program, in the amount of R$ 600, and the emancipation of beneficiary families through qualification for the job market and education of children and young people.

The candidate spoke again about the proposal for the Youth Savings program, as a way of encouraging students to complete high school. Through the initiative, the government will deposit, every year, an amount in a savings account of low-income students and the amount can be redeemed at the end of basic education. The estimate is that this savings could reach R$ 5 thousand. “High school is an absolute priority. Let’s return the 40% of young people who are outside the classroom today to the classroom, with connectivity [nas escolas públicas] and we are going to pay these young people”, he said.

In the afternoon, Simone Tebet will be in Feira de Santana (BA), where she should visit the Popular Market and the Women’s Hospital.
