Sunday (11) was golden for Brazilian judoka Beatriz Souza, at the Aberto de Riccione (Italy), the last tournament before the World Cup in Uzbekistan next month. Bia became champion in the category over 78 kilos after winning by ipppon the final against Frenchwoman Lea Fontaine.

To qualify for the final, Bia Souza won by ippon the Polish Kinga Wolszczak, in the debut, and then the Kazakh Kamila Berlikash, in the semifinal.
Current number 3 in the world, the São Paulo native from Peruíbe has already collected three other medals this season: she was Pan-American individual and team champion and silver at the Tel Aviv Grand Slam.
Another Brazilian who took the podium in Riccione was Eric Takabatake, who took the bronze medal on Saturday (10), in the under-66 kg category.
The World Cup in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, will take place from October 6 to 13. In last year’s edition, in Budapest (Hungary), Brazil won two individual bronzes with Beatriz Souza and Maria Suelen Altheman.
