Public spending in 2023 will boost the economy and social welfare: Morena

Adjustments in 44% of the first circle of the President

With the public spending of 2023, which has a high concentration in public investment and social spending, as well as in the strengthening of the internal market, the national economy will have a relevant boost, Morena evaluated in the Chamber of Deputies, as part of a first review of the project delivered on Thursday by the Executive.

The resources destined to promote public investment are equivalent to 3.6 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP), he indicated. While for the administrative branches, the increase is 334 billion, which are mainly concentrated in three branches: welfare, tourism and public education.

He stressed that the debt as a percentage of GDP remains at a stable level and a responsible budget policy is maintained, in addition to the fact that it is estimated that the total indebtedness of the federal government will continue on a downward path, at a level of 48.9 percent of GDP, lower than the of 51 percent that the Congress of the Union authorized for 2022.

He also considered that the budget sent has a high relevance in social spending, and with this resources are guaranteed to continue strengthening the network of direct support to the population through the Welfare Programs, with an expenditure of one billion 750.9 billion pesos, higher by 12.7 percent in real terms, and an increase of 21.7 percent in real terms of physical investment is proposed.

For his part, the finance coordinator of the bench, Daniel Gutiérrez, highlighted that in Branch 20 Welfare, an additional 108 thousand 974.7 million pesos are foreseen, and that 96.5 percent of this increase will be concentrated in the Pension for the Welfare of the Older Adults, which will finance the increase to 6 thousand pesos every two months of that item.

As for the greater expenditure planned for the Ramo 21 Tourism, of 79 thousand 894.1 million more than in 2022, it will be allocated to Massive Passenger Transport Projects, with which the construction of the Mayan Train is executed.

In Branch 11 Public Education, spending is expected to be 37 thousand 676.7 million higher than in 2022, and among the main variations La Escuela es Nuestra stands out, since its budget would increase 13 thousand 88.5 million, in addition to changing modality, of other subsidies to the subject to operating rules.
