A young man was arrested accused of making public threats through social networks in which he made reference to his intentions to carry out an attack against a shopping center in the Buenos Aires town of Avellaneda, something that was alerted by the Federal Office of Investigation of the United States (FBI), sources from the Argentine Naval Prefecture (PNA) indicated this Sunday.
The arrest took place after PNA personnel raided a home in the town of Temperley, Lomas de Zamora district, south of the Buenos Aires suburbs.
According to sources from that federal forcethe young detainee had made intimidating threats through a user of the social network Instagram in which he allegedly stated his intentions to attack a shopping center in the Buenos Aires town of Avellaneda.
The operation was the result of an alert issued by the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States (FBI), which was provided to the Cybercrime Investigations Division by the National Directorate of Criminal Intelligence and prosecuted before the Specialized Cybercrime Prosecution Unit, in charge of the prosecutor Horacio Azzolin.
Cybercrime officers from said institution carried out an investigation and data analysis to locate the origin of the threats.
In this way, following instructions from the Criminal and Correctional Court of First Instance 2 of Lomas de Zamora, whose head is Luis Armella, the Prefecture registered the house and identified the principal investigated, who lived with his parents.
Furthermore, during the operation, four cell phones, a CPU and documentation of interest were seized to contribute data to the cause, the sources added.
