MADRID, Spain.- The crew of the Charles David Jr. Coast Guard repatriated another 50 Cubans to Cuba, after five operations off the coast of Florida, the United States Coast Guard (USCG) reported through Twitter this Sunday.
The first operation occurred at noon last Monday after a Miami Coast Guard Air Force HC-144 crew alerted the Key West Sector watchers of a vessel, about 17 miles south of Cayo Largo.

A fishing boat was spotted Wednesday about 35 miles south of Marathon and a rustic boat about 25 miles south of Little Torch Key.
While on Thursday the security guards of the Key West Sector were notified of the presence of Cuban migrants about 3 miles south of Snake Creek.
Another rustic boat was spotted Friday at about 8:30 a.m. about 18 miles south of Key West, adds a release of the USCG.
These voyages “are fraught with uncertainty and are at great risk of loss of life,” said Petty Officer Nicole J Groll of the Coast Guard District Seven.
Just as he asked those who jump into the sea “not to leave their families and loved ones in pain wondering where they are.”
“Use a safe and legal means to come to the United States,” he added.
With these new arrests, the number of Cuban migrants intercepted at sea from October 1, 2021 to date rises to 5,456.
On September 8 and 9, 2022, the United States Coast Guard Service and the Cuban Border Guard Troops They met in Havana to discuss the current migration crisis.
During the “technical meeting” they exchanged on “the ways to increase operational cooperation between both services in terms of confronting the smuggling of migrants, illegal departures and illicit drug trafficking, as well as maritime search and rescue operations” , according to Cuban television.
