The FARC dissidents present in the department of Cauca have already begun rapprochements with the national government in order to engage in possible dialogues.
The information was confirmed by Daniel Wheel, peace commissionerwho in recent hours met with social organizations in this department who expressed their concerns about the acts of violence that have been occurring in this territory.

“There is great expectation of community processes, of organizational processes; to see how to participate in the construction of total peace, how they are going to offer guarantees and how this is going to be accompanied by really important transformations that prevent what is happening in our territories from repeating itselfe”, explained Commissioner Rueda.
The official assured that progress is already being made in a dialogue process with the ELN, a group that has opened spaces to progress in the ‘total peace process,’ and also explained that “in the same way, the central staff of the FARC that others group Dagoberto Ramos and other FARC fronts that operate in Cauca, they have made a rapprochement with the peace office and have also clearly manifested a series of humanitarian gestures in various parts of the Colombian territory. The second Marquetalia has sent a willingness to be part of the total peace and we are in the rapprochement phase, so I think we are making progress, in 4 weeks, in setting and generating a scenario that enables a second phase of dialogue with armed groups that exercise, according to them, the right to rebel”

Finally, the official explained that the “total peace process” will try to collect all the concerns of the communities throughout the country, which they hope can be included to prevent violence from continuing to hit Colombia.
