Venezuela rejects statement on Americans detained in the country

The spokesman for the US Department, Ned Price, referred to the arrest of one of the citizens

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejected this Saturday the recent pronouncements of the United States (USA) on the American citizens detained in the country, despite the fact that they have confessed their participation in the acts that have been attributed to them and that threaten the homeland.

“The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects the pronouncement of the Department of State of the United States of America, in relation to United States citizens legitimately deprived of liberty in the country, for their alleged responsibility in the commission of serious crimes and that, in Most of them have been convicted and confessed to the crimes they are accused of,” says a statement published on the website of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.

This Friday, the State Department spokesman, Ned Price, referred to the arrest of one of the citizens detained in the country.

This is Navy veteran Matthew Heat, who – according to Price – was “unjustly” detained, reports the Xinhua news agency.

The former marine is detained in the country on charges of espionage against strategic installations with the aim of starting a war against the South American country.

Given these statements, Venezuela described as “regrettable” that “the authorities of the United States insist on their claim to confer an unacceptable immunity or letter of marque to their nationals, in absolute disregard for the sovereignty and self-determination of peoples.”
