According to the World Life Expectancy portal, in 2020 traffic accident deaths were the third leading cause of death in the country behind deaths from heart disease and stroke and one in ten deaths that occurred in the country. With the intention of reducing deaths in traffic accidents the National Institute of Traffic and Land Transport (Intrant) is preparing in the coming months to implement a points system for driver’s licenses. Which would lead a person who commits enough serious offenses in a short time to lose their driver’s license.

How will points be stripped?
This new system grants the driver a balance of 20 or 10 points on his driver’s license, those who have less than four years with a valid driver’s license will be awarded ten points.
