What Jorge Luis Sánchez Orjuela was identified as the professional soldier native of the city of Ibagué, with more than 13 years of service in the institution, who lost his life after a fight with members of the Heroes and Martyrs front of the ELN, in the village of Caño Claro de Tame, Arauca.
Also, in the confrontation resulted wounded five members of the National Army and a member of the criminal group, who received first aid, in accordance with Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.
The Command of the Eighth Division affirmed that the combat took place after the development of offensive operations carried out by troops of the National Army to protect the civilian population in a rural area of the department of Arauca which has been a focus of violence and disturbance of public order by different armed groups.

“We regret and reject the events that occurred in the rural area of the municipality of Tame, unfortunately the presence of groups outside the law have generated painful situations for our department and for the country. Every day we find new facts where not only the security forces but also civilians are affected,” said Edgar Guzmán, secretary of the government of Arauca.
Similarly, from the departmental government they ask the National Government Take special and differential actions in the department of Arauca, Due to the extensive presence of illegal groups, specially in rural zones, which end with tranquility and security of the inhabitants.
It should be noted that the Army lamented the death of soldier Sánchez and sent a message condolences to his family and loved ones, for whom it has been made available an accompanying committee for this moment.
An operation has already been deployed in the area to find the whereabouts of those responsible for this criminal action.
