The two countries reestablished political and diplomatic relations on August 29 with the delivery of the credentials of the Colombian ambassador, Armando Benedetti, to President Nicolás Maduro, according to a report by the agency. Latin Press (PL).
The agency reports that the reunion between representatives of the two nations was sealed on Wednesday with the same procedure before the Colombian president, Gustavo Petro, by the Venezuelan ambassador, Félix Plascencia.

The day before, Maduro held a meeting with the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Colombia, Germán Umaña, who was received at the Miraflores Palace, the seat of government.
Umaña arrived in Caracas to fulfill a work agenda of binational interest, the Venezuelan Vice Minister of Relations, Rander Peña, reported on his Twitter account.
In the first weeks of the Petro government, the two countries announced the reestablishment of relations and appointed ambassadors, although, the agency recalls Eph that Maduro asked that the management towards the long-awaited reopening “be more slowly” and safely, taking into account drug trafficking in the border area.
