The Democratic Change bench – Together for Peru withdrew the candidacy of its spokesman, Edgard Reymundo, for the presidency of the Congress of the republic one day after the deadline for registering applicants.
Through a statement published on Saturday, the bench assured that its objective with Edgard Reymundo’s approach was to guarantee democratic management of the Board of Directors of Congress “that represents all the political forces that comprise it and that rebuilds the relationship of trust with the citizenship”.
However, they point out that the search for this space of unity and consensus behind their parliamentary spokesperson could not materialize.
Consequently, they proceed to withdraw the pre-candidacy of Edgard Reymundo, which leaves until the closing of this article three other candidates registered to occupy the position of president of the Congress: José Luis Elías (Podemos Perú), Guido Bellido (Perú Libre) and Luis Aragon (Popular Action).
“Consistent with our political line, we inform that we will not support multi-party candidacies that represent those who have been complicit in the coup with their votes”He concludes his statement.
Ruth Luque had been in charge of informing this week that they would present their spokesperson as a candidate for the presidency of Congress, after the censorship against Lady Camones.
“I want to inform public opinion that yesterday we had a caucus meeting in which we made a unanimous decision to present Congressman Edgar Reymundo as a pre-candidate for the Presidency of Congress”assured.
