The tax reform or Social Investment Law approved by Congress and sanctioned by President Iván Duque contemplates a benefit related to the payment of traffic fines in the country.

The intention, as reported by the Ministry of Transport, is that “cities and municipalities can clean up their portfolio on issues of collection for payment of traffic fines“.
Thus, those who have some type of sanction and have not canceled it may benefit from one of the benefits stipulated in the Law, which orIt offers discounted and interest-free payment.

WHAT PENALTIES DOES IT APPLY TO?
The discounts and benefits for the payment of traffic fines apply only to those that have been imposed until June 30, 2021.
And if you have multiple fines, you can access discounts for all of them.
Of course, it is important to clarify that the only sanctions for which it does not apply are those that have been imposed. for driving while intoxicated or under the influence of psychoactive substances.
HOW TO ACCESS THE BENEFIT?
What you must do is go, virtually or in person, to the transit agencies of the municipality where the offense was committed, or to the Integrated Information System on Fines and Penalties for Traffic Violations (Simit), to the respective transit agency to cancel the fines that are pending.
These agencies and entities are already advancing the respective adjustment processes for the discounts that will be applied to the fines.
Payment can be made virtually or in person.

HOW MUCH ARE THE DISCOUNTS?
Debtors will have a 50% discount of the total value without interest until May 14, 2022.
The other option that is contemplated is to pay the 80% Of the debt. This would be for those catching up between the May 15, 2022 and September 14, 2022.
In the case of motorcycles, the payment options will be the following: until March 14, 2022, only the twenty % of the principal without interest. If they do it between March 15 and May 14, 2022, they will pay the 40% of the fine without default interest. And between May 15 and September 14, 2022, only the 60% of the stipulated total.
And payments must be made in cash, in full. Does not apply for fees.

UNTIL WHEN WILL THE DISCOUNTS BE GIVEN?
The benefit will be valid until September 14, 2022, which is when the Social Investment Law has gone into effect one year.
IN HOW LONG DOES THE COMPARENDO REGISTRATION DELETE AFTER PAYING?
In three business days you will no longer appear in the system as a traffic ticket debtor. If so, you should contact the relevant authorities to update the case.
